WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT
at the American Pool Checkers Association's 42nd Annual National Tournament - July 13th - 17th 2008 

 

June Wilson, of Memphis, TN won the Women's Tournament at the National Pool Checkers Championship in Chicago on Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2008.  She scored 14 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw for 58 points out of a possible 64 in the double round robin. 

 

Linda Patterson, South Bend, IN took second with 44 points, followed closely by Bernice Temple, Birmingham, AL with 42.  The players were all wives, daughters, or nieces of players in the main tournament.  This was the largest number in memory to compete in the women's tourney.

 

The event was organized by Stoney Burke and refereed by Roger Blaine, and all the participants were awarded merchandise prizes.
